Thursday 10/17/2009: Ramirez and Wheeler receive Outstanding Pitcher Award
Demarcus Ramirez was named the Adams League Outstanding Pitcher Award winner today. Saskatoon's right-hander put up fabulous numbers this year which earned him the highest award a pitcher can receive. This season Ramirez compiled an ERA of 1.86, going 28-3 in 38 starts. He fanned 259 while giving up 211 hits in 271 innings. Demarcus has pitched 3 shutouts and 4 complete games. He's 1st in the Adams League in ERA and 1st in wins! Ramirez wins the award for the 3rd time in his 5-year career. The Zotti League Outstanding Pitcher Award winner was announced today as well, with River Cities' right-hander Sherman Wheeler taking home the desired trophy. He certainly earned it, he struck fear into hitters all year long. This season Wheeler compiled an ERA of 1.75, going 17-3 in 30 starts. He fanned 166 while giving up 135 hits in 195.2 innings. He has 2 complete games and 2 shutouts. He's 1st in the Zotti League in ERA and 2nd in wins! Wheeler wins the award for the 2nd time in his 5-year career.

Thursday 10/17/2009: Rawlins and Redman earn Outstanding Batter Award honors
It was a day to remember for Seattle's George Rawlins, who won the Adams League Outstanding Batter Award today. It put the finishing touches on what has been a tremendous season for the slugger. This year Rawlins drove in 121 and scored 99 runs while batting .317 with 26 longballs. He's 5th in the Adams League in batting, 7th in homeruns and 1st in RBI! The 2009 Zotti League Outstanding Batter Award winner has been announced as well. It's South Bay's leftfielder John Redman who really had a great offensive year. This year Redman drove in 98 and scored 107 runs while batting .346 with 34 bombs. He's 2nd in the Zotti League in batting, 7th in homeruns and 9th in RBI! Redman wins the award for the 2nd time in his 12-year career.

Thursday 10/17/2009: Alcala (DEN) and Hukill (RIV) win Outstanding Newcomer Award
Denver's David Alcala was almost in tears when he heard the news. The 23 year old pitcher was named the Outstanding Newcomer Award winner in the Adams League today. What a way to begin a career! In 41 starts this year David struck out 243 batters in 244.2 innings of work. His ERA is 2.94, his record 15-11. He's 4th in the Adams League in ERA and 6th in wins! John Hukill will never forget his first full season. The Zotti League was convinced that River Cities' shortstop, 22 years old, should be the Outstanding Newcomer Award winner of 2009. His season features a batting average of .275 (144 hits in 524 AB), 24 doubles, 3 triples and 37 bombs. Hukill collected 104 RBI and 116 runs as well. He's 6th in the Zotti League in RBIs and 4th in homeruns!

Wednesday 10/2/2009: Brooklyn has no chance in a NO-HITTER by Demarcus Ramirez
SASKATOON - Demarcus Ramirez had some fun again. REAL fun. Brooklyn hitters did not. Saskatoon's right-hander fired a no-hitter in his 3rd shutout of the season. He now has 13 career shutouts in 167 games started. Jed Brose spoiled the bid for a perfect game when he was hit by a pitch with 1 away in the 7th inning. Ramirez (28-3) showed excellent control, walking nobody and fanning 8. 'I felt early that I was on top of my game. Fortunately I was able to keep that feeling the entire game.' Saskatoon's shortstop Ronald Quijada finished with 2 hits in 4 AB, blasting a homerun, hitting a double, with 3 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Ramirez. Saskatoon scored 5 runs on 7 hits.

Tuesday 10/1/2009: Pitcher of the Month award winners announced
It's the 6th time that the Adams League Pitcher of the Month award goes to Seattle's pitcher Chad Nelligan. His ERA of just 1.42 helped him to a 4-1 record in September. He worked 44.1 innings, striking out 40 hitters while walking 4. Chad pitched a shutout as well. Chad has a record of 18-11 this season, with an ERA of 2.32. In 251.2 Innings he was able to strike out 232 batters. Chad has pitched 3 shutouts and 5 complete games. He's 2nd in the Adams League in ERA and 2nd in wins! Winner of this months Zotti League Pitcher of the Month award is South Bay's Wendell Sorg. His ERA of just 1.25 helped him to a 3-1 record in September. He worked 36 innings, striking out 25 hitters while walking 18. Opposing players hit .216 against Wendell this season. While posting an ERA of 2.95 he went 16-9 in 34 starts, fanning 129 and walking 66 hitters. He's 4th in the Zotti League in ERA and 4th in wins!

Tuesday 10/1/2009: Batter of the Month award winners announced
The Adams League Batter of the Month award goes to Sean Arant, Seattle's starting centerfielder. Sean went 37 for 99 (.374), while hitting 6 HR and collecting 14 RBI. He has hit 21 longballs while batting .313 this season. His 193 hits and 68 walks add up to a .380 on-base percentage. He's 7th in the Adams League in batting! John Hukill of River Cities wins his 1st Batter of the Month award for putting up the best numbers in the Zotti League. He had an on base percentage of .455 and hit .318, while driving in 23 runs. While compiling an on base percentage of .429, John hit .275 and slugged .544. He has collected 104 runs batted in this year. He's 6th in the Zotti League in RBIs and 4th in homeruns!

Monday 9/30/2009: Player of the Week honors go to Delagarza and Fout
The Player of the Week award in the Adams League goes to Saskatoon's Jose Delagarza this time, as the pitcher displayed the best pitching perfomance in his league. Jose went 2-0 with an ERA of 1.06, while fanning 12 in 17 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well. Robert Fout wins his 4th Player of the Week award. Zotti League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Robert pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .455 with 2 HR and 12 RBI while slugging .864. Robert has gone 138 for 535 (.258) this season, hitting 31 bombs and driving in 94 runs. He has scored 73 runs on his own.

Saturday 9/28/2009: Sherman Wheeler pitches 1-hit shutout against Walla Walla
RIVER CITIES - Sherman Wheeler had some fun again. Walla Walla hitters did not. River Cities' right-hander gave up just one hit in his 2nd shutout of the season. He now has 8 career shutouts in 148 games started. 'I didn't feel that I had good stuff while warming up. But it got better the more I threw the ball. I guess I was lucky.' Wheeler (16-3) struck out 9 and issued 1 BB, throwing 65 of 99 pitches for strikes. Joan Hinkel provided River Cities with the offense Wheeler needed as he finished with 1 hit in 3 AB. River Cities improved its record to 109-48, scoring 1 run on 4 hits.

Monday 9/23/2009: Quijada (SAS) and David (NY) win P.O.W. award
The Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Ronald Quijada, Saskatoon's starting shortstop. He hit .438 with 7 RBI and slugged 1.063 in 16 at bats. The Zotti League Player of the Week award goes to Juan David, New York 's starting rightfielder. In 17 at bats he hit .471 with 2 HR and 3 RBI. David has hit for a .288 average this season. He has 42 extra base hits along with 228 total bases, resulting in a .452 slugging percentage. He's 9th in the Zotti League in batting!

It's the 1st time that the Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Houston's pitcher Tahachirou Shinsaku. Tahachirou went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00, while fanning 13 in 15 innings of work. The Player of the Week award in the Zotti League goes to South Bay's Ricky Peppers this time, as the shortstop displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Peppers helped his team with an average of .524 and 5 RBI in 21 at bats.

Saskatoon's shortstop Ronald Quijada had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Adams League Player of the Week. It's the 3rd time that the Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Saskatoon's catcher Carlos Barrera. In 19 at bats he hit .474 with 3 HR and 6 RBI. Christopher Moss from Walla Walla wins his 5th Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Zotti League. Moss helped his team with an average of .588 and 13 RBI in 17 at bats. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 8 games. He now has homered in 4 consecutive games as well! Sunday 9/1/2009: Miguel Cuesta out for 5 weeks
BROOKLYN - Brooklyn's season has taken a hit after one of their best players, leftfielder Miguel Cuesta, injured himself while rounding a base. He is likely to miss 5 weeks. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Fractured Knee. Miguel has gone 163 for 529 (.308) this season, hitting 40 bombs and driving in 100 runs. Sunday 9/1/2009: Pitcher of the Month award winners announced
Seattle's Chad Nelligan had a terrific August, and it earned him the Adams League Pitcher of the month award. His record of 4-1 in 7 was among the leagues best this month. In 54.2 innings of work he allowed just 27 hits while striking out 53, compiling an ERA of just 0.99. Chad also fired a shutout. This season Nelligan compiled an ERA of 2.52, going 14-10 in 31 starts. He fanned 192 while giving up 177 hits in 207.1 innings. He has 3 complete games and 2 shutouts. He's 2nd in the Adams League in ERA and 5th in wins! It's the 1st time that the Zotti League Pitcher of the Month award goes to New York 's pitcher Ronald Placencia. His ERA of just 1.19 helped him to a 4-1 record in August. He worked 37.2 innings, striking out 43 hitters while walking 12. Opposing players hit .190 against Ronald this season. While posting an ERA of 2.45 he went 7-7 in 23 starts, fanning 174 and walking 54 hitters.

The Adams League Batter of the Month award goes to Beau Manning, Brooklyn's starting catcher. Beau was on fire, hitting .348 with 10 homeruns and 25 RBI. Friday 8/30/2009: Chad Nelligan shuts out Houston on one hit
SEATTLE - Seattle's right-hander Chad Nelligan is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Houston on just one hit. It's his 2nd shutout this season, and the 8th time he has done it in his career. 'I was hitting my spots. Now I'll start concentrating on my next start, and hopefully it will work again.' Nelligan (14-10) struck out 8 and issued 2 BB, throwing 71 of 110 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for Seattle was rightfielder Sean Arant, he went 2 for 5, scoring two runs and collecting 2 RBI. Seattle scored 8 runs on 9 hits.

It's the 2nd time that the Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Brooklyn's catcher Beau Manning. Beau was on fire, hitting .423 with 4 HR and 9 RBI. Max Mendoza of Walla Walla wins his 1st Player of the Week award for dominating Zotti League's hitters the entire week. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 0.00 while going 2-0. He hurled a shutout as well. This season Mendoza compiled an ERA of 3.27, going 10-11 in 28 starts. He fanned 75 while giving up 172 hits in 176.1 innings. He has one complete game and one shutout.

NEW YORK Max Mendoza had an unexpectedly great performance against New York 'Winning is the most important thing. And I gave my team all the support it needed!' Mendoza (10-11) struck out 4 and issued 4 BB, throwing 59 of 107 pitches for strikes. Fred Smith helped Mendoza at the plate, he collected 2 hits in 5 trips to the plate. HOUSTON - All you need to win is a dominating pitching performance. And Houston's Earle Stollings did so today, in a 2-hit shutout against Hickory. Monday 8/5/2009: Carmelo Deleon out for 6 weeks
SEATTLE - Seattle's shortstop Carmelo Deleon hurt himself in the 8th inning while making a routine throw to first base. He experienced serious pain and had to leave the game. Carmelo Deleon will miss at least 6 weeks. Seattle wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Deleon had suffered a Torn Bicep Muscle. This year Deleon drove in 57 and scored 64 runs while batting .328 with 15 homeruns. He's 4th in the Adams League in batting!

Monday 8/5/2009: Isidro Frau out for 5 weeks
SEATTLE - Seattle is without its right-hander Isidro Frau for at least 5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Dong Lutz in a game against Hickory. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being taken to a local hospital, Frau was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Torn Tricep Muscle. Isidro has a record of 10-2 this season, with an ERA of 3.20. In 123.2 Innings he was able to strike out 107 batters. He's 5th in the Adams League in ERA and 5th in wins!

Monday 8/5/2009: Player of the Week honors go to Lutz and Jeon
Hickory's first baseman Dong Lutz had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Adams League Player of the Week. Dong pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .400 with 2 HR and 8 RBI while slugging .720. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 7 game hitting streak right now. The Zotti League's best player of the week was South Bay's Luis Jeon, who wins the award for the 3rd time in his career. Luis was on fire, hitting .450 with 4 HR and 8 RBI. This year Jeon drove in 83 and scored 77 runs while batting .272 with 27 homeruns. He's 1st in the Zotti League in RBIs and 3rd in homeruns!

The best month of July in the Adams League certainly had Seattle's right-hander Isidro Frau, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. His record of 5-0 in 5 was among the leagues best this month. In 33.2 innings of work he allowed just 23 hits while striking out 25, compiling an ERA of just 1.87. His ERA of 3.15 helped him to a 10-2 record this year. He struck out 106 and walked 49 in 122.2 innings. He's 5th in the Adams League in ERA and 5th in wins! Winner of this months Zotti League Pitcher of the Month award is South Bay's Albert Garcia. He had an ERA of just 1.38 in 39 innings of work in which he struck out 38 hitters. His record in July is 6-0. Albert has a record of 11-5 this season, with an ERA of 2.20. In 155.1 Innings he was able to strike out 132 batters. He's 2nd in the Zotti League in ERA and 4th in wins!

It's the 2nd time that the Adams League Batter of the Month award goes to Denver's leftfielder Paul Shunk. Paul pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .380 with 8 and 20 RBI while slugging .750. His season features a batting average of .301 (117 hits in 389 AB), 19 doubles, 3 triples and 20 taters. Shunk collected 76 RBI and 55 runs as well. He's 2nd in the Adams League in RBIs and 5th in homeruns! The Batter of the Month award in the Zotti League goes to South Bay's Luis Jeon this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. In 78 at bats he hit .385 with 6 HR and 25 RBI. While compiling an on base percentage of .403, Luis hit .267 and slugged .526. He has collected 81 runs batted in this year. BROOKLYN - Sabas Delvalle had some fun again. REAL fun. Houston hitters did not. Brooklyn's right-hander fired a no-hitter in his 0th shutout of the season. He now has 0 career shutouts in 78 games started. Delvalle (13-5) did not have perfect control, walking 6. He struck out 9. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Fortunately they were not able to adjust in time.' Beau Manning provided Brooklyn with the offense Delvalle needed as he went 1 for 4, homering once, with 3 RBI. Brooklyn scored 6 runs on 12 hits.

Monday 7/29/2009: Nelligan (SEA) and Palacio (RIV) win P.O.W. award
The Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Chad Nelligan, one of Seattle's best starting pitchers. Nelligan was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 0.55. Along the way he struck out 15 in 16.1 innings. He hurled a shutout as well. The Player of the Week award in the Zotti League goes to River Cities' Timothy Palacio this time, as the second baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Timothy was on fire, hitting .520 with 2 HR and 2 RBI. He has hit 9 bombs while batting .340 this season. His 108 hits and 45 walks add up to a .422 on-base percentage. He's 3rd in the Zotti League in batting!

Sunday 7/21/2009: Christopher Moss clubs three rockets
WALLA WALLA - Walla Walla's leftfielder Christopher Moss flexed his muscles and displayed his tremendous power, homering three times in a 15-4 win over Danville. His 1st blast, a two-run homerun off Roberto Olivas in the 1st inning, landed an estimated 344 feet from home plate. A pitch from Roberto Diaz in the 3rd inning left his bat for a two-run homerun, landing 392 feet from home plate in left field. Number 3 in the 6th inning, a shot estimated at 435 feet, cleared the wall in center field. Christopher collected 4 hits in 6 trips to the plate, scoring three times and driving in 6 runs. Walla Walla scored 15 runs on 18 hits.

Monday 7/15/2009: Merriweather and Jeon win Player of the Week award
The Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Andrew Merriweather, Brooklyn's starting rightfielder. In 16 at bats he hit .563 with 2 HR and 8 RBI. Luis Jeon from South Bay wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Zotti League. He hit .481 with 12 RBI and slugged .630 in 27 at bats. His season numbers are: .262 AVG, 80 hits, 11 doubles, no triples and 22 bombs, along with 72 RBI and 63 runs scored. He's 2nd in the Zotti League in RBIs and 6th in homeruns!

It's the 2nd time that the Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Seattle's pitcher Chad Nelligan. Nelligan was overpowering all week long, going 1-0 with an ERA of 1.46. Along the way he struck out 8 in 12.1 innings. Albert Garcia of South Bay wins his 4th Player of the Week award for dominating Zotti League's hitters the entire week. Albert went 2-0 with an ERA of 1.80, while fanning 16 in 15 innings of work.

Sunday 7/7/2009: River Cities' Wheeler out for 4-5 weeks
RIVER CITIES - River Cities' ace Sherman Wheeler suffered a severe injury on Sunday and will be out for at least 4-5 weeks. In the 2nd of the game against New York Pulled Tricep Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. In 20 starts this year Sherman struck out 114 batters in 133 innings of work. His ERA is 1.56, his record 11-3. Sherman has pitched one shutout and one complete game. He's 1st in the Zotti League in ERA and 2nd in wins!

Winner of this months Adams League Pitcher of the Month award is Saskatoon's Demarcus Ramirez. He went 5-0 in June and finished the month with an ERA of 1.50. He struck out 51 in 48 innings. Demarcus also fired a shutout. This season Ramirez compiled an ERA of 1.80, going 15-1 in 19 starts. He fanned 124 while giving up 114 hits in 140.1 innings. He has 3 complete games and 2 shutouts. He's 1st in the Adams League in ERA and 1st in wins! Jonathan Starner pitched like a legend in June, and the Zotti League named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. He had an ERA of just 0.86 in 21 innings of work in which he struck out 12 hitters. His record in June is 2-0. Jonathan has a record of 6-2 this season, with an ERA of 2.65. In 74.2 Innings he was able to strike out 53 batters.

Wednesday 6/26/2009: Saskatoon's Pimental severely injured
SASKATOON - Saskatoon's right-hander Richard Pimental suffered a severe injury on Wednesday and will be out for at least 8-9 weeks. In the 3rd of the game against Seattle he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After being taken to a local hospital, Pimental was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Pulled Rotator Cuff Muscle. Opposing players hit .199 against Richard this season. While posting an ERA of 2.78 he went 2-1 in 7 starts, fanning 37 and walking 11 hitters.

Monday 6/24/2009: Player of the Week honors go to Powell and Fout
The Player of the Week award in the Adams League goes to Houston's Russell Powell this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Russell went 13 for 28 (.464), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 7 RBI. It's the 3rd time that the Zotti League Player of the Week award goes to River Cities' third baseman Robert Fout. Friday 6/21/2009: Sherman Wheeler fires 2-hitter against Danville
DANVILLE - River Cities' right-hander Sherman Wheeler is clearly one of the best pitchers in the game. Danville found out the hard way, getting just 2 hits. Wheeler 1st shutout this season was a masterpiece, as he was almost untouchable. He has now hurled 7th shutouts in his career. Alberto Usera spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he singled with two outs in the 5th inning. Wheeler (9-3) struck out 9 and walked 1, throwing 66 of 102 pitches for strikes. 'Things like that happen. You take the mound and everything works. My velocity was pretty good today and I guess it showed.' Shaun Guinn provided River Cities with the offense Wheeler needed as he collected 2 hits in 4 trips to the plate, homering once, and driving in 2 runs. River Cities scored 4 runs on 8 hits.

Monday 6/17/2009: Player of the Week honors go to Mudge and Wojcik
Seattle's first baseman Gregory Mudge had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Adams League Player of the Week. Gregory went 9 for 21 (.429), while hitting 2 HR and collecting 7 RBI. Rocco Wojcik of New York Wojcik was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 1.20. Along the way he struck out 13 in 15 innings.

Friday 6/14/2009: River Cities' Okane severely injured
RIVER CITIES - When it rains, it pours. River Cities' left-hander John Okane will not pitch for at least 7 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Covington where he left the field in the 2nd inning. River Cities wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Okane had suffered a Pulled Bicep Muscle. In 8 starts this year John struck out 38 batters in 39.1 innings of work. His ERA is 3.20, his record 5-0.

Monday 6/10/2009: Bingham (HOU) and Drewry (SB) win P.O.W. award
Houston's shortstop Brian Bingham had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Adams League Player of the Week. He had an on base percentage of .636 and hit .600, while driving in 6 runs. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 7 games. Bingham has hit 10 bombs this year while batting .271. He adds 7 doubles, along with 31 runs scored. South Bay's third baseman Jeffery Drewry had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Zotti League Player of the Week. Jeffery was on fire, hitting .435 with 1 HR and 10 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 14 game hitting streak right now. While compiling an on base percentage of .348, Jeffery hit .303 and slugged .510. Tuesday 6/4/2009: South Bay's Sorg severely injured
SOUTH BAY - South Bay is without its right-hander Wendell Sorg for at least 6-7 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Timothy Palacio in a game against River Cities. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. South Bay wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Sorg had suffered a Spasms Back. His ERA of 3.09 helped him to a 7-3 record this year. He struck out 56 and walked 19 in 75.2 innings. He's 6th in the Zotti League in ERA and 3rd in wins!

Monday 6/3/2009: Player of the Week honors go to Cuesta and Suarez
Miguel Cuesta from Brooklyn wins his 7th Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Adams League. He hit .586 with 10 RBI and slugged 1.379 in 29 at bats. His season numbers are: .332 AVG, 72 hits, 13 doubles, 2 triples and 20 taters, along with 50 RBI and 47 runs scored. He's 6th in the Adams League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI! River Cities' centerfielder Anton Suarez had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Zotti League Player of the Week. Suarez helped his team with an average of .720 and 6 RBI in 25 at bats.

Saturday 6/1/2009: Brooklyn's Miguel Cuesta slams three taters
BROOKLYN - Miguel Cuesta beat Hickory, but he did it without mercy, playing like a one man wrecking crew. Brooklyn's centerfielder slugged three homeruns, once again proving that he is among the elite sluggers. A 393 foot drive to right-center marked his 1st bomb, a solo homerun off Ronald Kirkwood in the 1st inning. It tied the ballgame at 1. His 2nd shot, off Ronald Kirkwood in the 5th inning, was a solo homerun and cleared the fence in left field. That one tied it at 4 runs apiece. His 3rd blast, a solo homerun off Donald Taylor in the 7th inning, landed an estimated 437 feet from home plate. Miguel finished with 4 hits in 5 AB, doubling once, scoring three runs with 3 RBI. His homerun total this year is 20, along with 50 RBI. Brooklyn improved its record to 36-18, scoring 9 runs on 12 hits.

Saturday 6/1/2009: Pitcher of the Month award winners announced
Demarcus Ramirez pitched like a legend in May, and the Adams League named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. His ERA of just 1.48 helped him to a 4-1 record in May. He worked 42.2 innings, striking out 34 hitters while walking 3. Demarcus also fired a shutout. His ERA of 1.95 helped him to a 10-1 record this year. He struck out 73 and walked 7 in 92.1 innings. Demarcus has pitched one shutout and one complete game. He's 1st in the Adams League in ERA and 1st in wins! John Okane couldn't have pitched much better than he did in May, and the Zotti League thought so as well, naming the left-hander Pitcher of the Month. His ERA of just 1.27 helped him to a 4-0 record in May. He worked 28.1 innings, striking out 28 hitters while walking 8. His ERA of 1.72 helped him to a 4-0 record this year. He struck out 31 and walked 9 in 31.1 innings.

Saturday 6/1/2009: South Bay's Redman named Batter of the Month
It's the 3rd time that the Adams League Batter of the Month award goes to Brooklyn's leftfielder Miguel Cuesta. He hit .327 with 25 RBI and slugged .694 in 98 at bats. Cuesta has walked 19 times this year and posts a .385 OBP. While batting .324, 67 for 207, he has driven in 47 runs. He's 9th in the Adams League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI! The Batter of the Month award in the Zotti League goes to South Bay's John Redman this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Monday 5/27/2009: Houston's Powell wins Player of the Week award
Russell Powell wins his 11th Player of the Week award. Adams League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Powell helped his team with an average of .389 and 4 RBI in 18 at bats. His season features a batting average of .333 (59 hits in 177 AB), 5 doubles, no triples and 12 bombs. Powell collected 30 RBI and 34 runs as well. He's 7th in the Adams League in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 6th in RBI! It's the 2nd time that the Zotti League Player of the Week award goes to South Bay's pitcher Luis Diaz. Diaz was overpowering all week long, going 2-0 with an ERA of 3.18. Along the way he struck out 8 in 17 innings. A complete game added to his brilliant performance.

Sunday 5/26/2009: South Bay's Luis Jeon goes deep three times
SOUTH BAY - Hitting a homerun is fine, but hitting three of them in one game is something special. South Bay's first baseman Luis Jeon accomplished that feat in a 11-7 win over Walla Walla. His 1st blast, a three-run homerun off Ernesto Arguelles in the 1st inning, landed an estimated 429 feet from home plate. His 2nd shot, off Ernesto Arguelles in the 2nd inning, was a two-run homerun and cleared the fence in left-center. A 418 foot drive to left-center marked his 3rd bomb, a two-run homerun off Elton Molina in the 6th inning. Luis got 3 hits in 5 AB, with three runs scored with 7 RBI.

Tuesday 5/21/2009: Seattle's Mcgreevy out for 5 weeks
SEATTLE - Seattle's right-hander Bradford Mcgreevy suffered a severe injury on Tuesday and will be out for at least 5 weeks. In the 7th of the game against Brooklyn he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Strained Bicep Muscle. Sunday 5/19/2009: It's NO-NO time for Christopher Hester against Denver
SEATTLE - Seattle's right-hander Christopher Hester made some history today, firing a no-hitter against Denver. Their hitters found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, never having a chance against his overpowering stuff. 'Giving my team a chance to win is the most important thing for me. I was able to do it today, and it's especially nice to do it in such fashion.' Hester (4-2) was really unbelievable, striking out 17 and walking 1, throwing 74 of 115 pitches for strikes. John Willer helped Hester at the plate, he finished with 3 hits in 4 AB, and collecting 2 RBI. Seattle improved its record to 27-15, scoring 4 runs on 12 hits.

Wednesday 5/15/2009: Eric Setliff blanks Denver with a 2-hitter
DENVER - Eric Setliff had his best stuff going, and Denver hitters were chanceless. Brooklyn's right-hander fired a 2-hitter, his 1st shutout of the season. Setliff (4-5) fanned 9 and walked none, throwing 98 pitches. 'I really like to play baseball, and I love the way I was able to play it today.' Brooklyn's first baseman Beau Manning finished with 3 hits in 4 AB, hitting a homerun, hitting a double. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Setliff. Brooklyn scored 4 runs on 10 hits.

Tuesday 5/14/2009: Bill Siple blanks Denver with a 2-hitter
DENVER - Brooklyn's southpaw Bill Siple is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Denver on just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 7th time he has done it in his career. Siple (6-1) struck out 9 and issued 2 BB, throwing 77 of 121 pitches for strikes. 'I didn't feel that I had good stuff while warming up. But it got better the more I threw the ball. I guess I was lucky.' Miguel Cuesta helped Siple at the plate, he stroked 1 hit in 4 AB, hitting a homerun, and collecting 3 RBI. The final score of the game was 5-0.

Jeffrey Shuttleworth of Denver wins his 1st Player of the Week award for dominating Adams League's hitters the entire week. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 1.38 while going 2-0. In 7 starts this year Jeffrey struck out 29 batters in 45.2 innings of work. His ERA is 3.74, his record 2-4. The Zotti League's best player of the week was Danville's Paulino Zamorano, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. He hit .571 with 14 RBI and slugged 1.357 in 28 at bats. Saturday 5/4/2009: Covington's Hong Dupre ropes five hits
COVINGTON - 'Wow, five hits in one game is something special, isn't it?' said Covington's shortstop Hong Dupre after the 11-6 win over River Cities. Number 1 in the 1st inning, a shot estimated at 445 feet, cleared the wall in center field. Number 3 in the 5th inning accounted for a double. A pitch from Jefferson Theriault in the 7th inning left his bat for a RBI double. He had singles in the 3rd inning and in the 6th inning . Hong did drive in 2 while scoring 3 runs on his own. He is hitting .235 this season, with 6 HR and 13 RBI.

Demarcus Ramirez pitched like a legend in April, and the Adams League named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. He suffered a serious injury in a game against South Bay where he left the field in the 3rd inning. Ruptured Elbow Ligament was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials.
