Thursday 10/17/2006: Outstanding Pitcher Award winners announced
The Adams League Outstanding Pitcher Award winner was announced today, with Saskatoon's right-hander Richard Pimental taking home the desired trophy. He certainly earned it, he struck fear into hitters all year long. In 39 starts this year Richard struck out 274 batters in 257.1 innings of work. His ERA is 2.27, his record 18-9. He has 3 complete games and 3 shutouts. He's 1st in the Adams League in ERA and 3rd in wins! Wendell Sorg was named the Zotti League Outstanding Pitcher Award winner today. Florida's right-hander put up fabulous numbers this year which earned him the highest award a pitcher can receive. In 33 starts this year Wendell struck out 231 batters in 202.1 innings of work. His ERA is 2.31, his record 18-5. Wendell has pitched one shutout and 2 complete games. He's 1st in the Zotti League in ERA and 1st in wins! Sorg wins the award for the 2nd time in his 10-year career.
 
Thursday 10/17/2006: Melton and Rodriguez win Outstanding Batter Award
It was a day to remember for Brooklyn's Juan Melton, who won the Adams League Outstanding Batter Award today. It put the finishing touches on what has been a tremendous season for the slugger. His season features a batting average of .355 (214 hits in 603 AB), 35 doubles, one triple and 34 longballs. Melton collected 116 RBI and 109 runs as well. He's 1st in the Adams League in batting, 3rd in homeruns and 1st in RBI! It was a day to remember for Florida's Jose Rodriguez, who won the Zotti League Outstanding Batter Award today. It put the finishing touches on what has been a tremendous season for the slugger. His season numbers are: .307 AVG, 170 hits, 22 doubles, one triple and 34 bombs, along with 114 RBI and 102 runs scored. He's 4th in the Zotti League in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 2nd in RBI!
 
Thursday 10/17/2006: Cuesta (BRK) and Arant (FMM) win Outstanding Newcomer Award
The 2006 Adams League Outstanding Newcomer Award winner is from Brooklyn this season. Miguel Cuesta put together impressive numbers for a rookie en route to win the first major award of his career. Let's hope more will follow for this 25 year old ballplayer. His season features a batting average of .331 (139 hits in 420 AB), 22 doubles, 3 triples and 24 longballs. Cuesta collected 74 RBI and 76 runs as well. Sean Arant was named the Zotti League Outstanding Newcomer Award winner today. Florida's centerfielder put up pretty good numbers for a rookie this year. This 26 year old kid will probably have a long and successful career! His season features a batting average of .330 (187 hits in 567 AB), 22 doubles, 4 triples and 8 longballs. Arant collected 64 RBI and 109 runs as well. He's 1st in the Zotti League in batting!
 
Tuesday 10/1/2006: Denver's Hurlbert earns Pitcher of the Month award
Roy Hurlbert couldn't have pitched much better than he did in September, and the Adams League thought so as well, naming the lefty Pitcher of the Month. His record of 3-2 in 6 was among the leagues best this month. In 42 innings of work he allowed just 39 hits while striking out 19, compiling an ERA of just 2.36. Roy got two complete game shutouts as well! In 31 starts this year Roy struck out 101 batters in 202.2 innings of work. His ERA is 4.00, his record 8-16. Roy has pitched 2 shutouts and 4 complete games. Wendell Sorg couldn't have pitched much better than he did in September, and the Zotti League thought so as well, naming the right-hander Pitcher of the Month. His ERA of just 1.46 helped him to a 4-0 record in September. He worked 37 innings, striking out 47 hitters while walking 10. Opposing players hit .214 against Wendell this season. While posting an ERA of 2.27 he went 18-4 in 32 starts, fanning 225 and walking 36 hitters. He has one complete game and one shutout. He's 1st in the Zotti League in ERA and 1st in wins!
 
Tuesday 10/1/2006: Houston's Guinn earns Batter of the Month award
The Adams League Batter of the Month award goes to Shaun Guinn, Houston's starting leftfielder. Shaun went 37 for 101 (.366), while hitting 8 HR and collecting 20 RBI. He has hit 25 longballs while batting .339 this season. His 191 hits and 50 walks add up to a .399 on-base percentage. He's 2nd in the Adams League in batting, 6th in homeruns and 8th in RBI! The Zotti League Batter of the Month award goes to Waylon Blassingame, California's starting catcher. He had an on base percentage of .441 and hit .412, while driving in 19 runs. Blassingame has hit for a .293 average this season. He has 34 extra base hits along with 218 total bases, resulting in a .407 slugging percentage. He's 7th in the Zotti League in batting!
 
Monday 9/30/2006: Melton and Blassingame win Player of the Week award
It's the 11th time that the Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Brooklyn's second baseman Juan Melton. He had an on base percentage of .571 and hit .538, while driving in 4 runs. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 8 games. While compiling an on base percentage of .429, Juan hit .354 and slugged .586. He has collected 111 runs batted in this year. He's 1st in the Adams League in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 1st in RBI! Waylon Blassingame wins his 1st Player of the Week award. Zotti League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Waylon went 10 for 21 (.476), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 7 RBI.
 
Saturday 9/28/2006: Richard Hassel collects five hits against Hickory
BROOKLYN - Richard Hassel punished Hickory's pitching today, collecting five hits in 5 AB. That definitely helped Brooklyn, they won the game 25 to 5. Number 1 in the 4th inning, a shot estimated at 415 feet, cleared the wall in left-center. His 3rd hit, off Simeon Sanchez in the 5th inning, was a three-run homerun and cleared the fence in center field. In the 7th inning he unloaded a two-run triple off Ryan Lagasse. He collected singles in the 4th inning (one RBI) and in the 6th (one RBI). Richard did drive in 8 while scoring 3 runs on his own. He is hitting .237 this season, with 23 HR and 89 RBI.
 
Monday 9/23/2006: Walla Walla's Borders wins Player of the Week award
Franklin Jackson wins his 1st Player of the Week award. Adams League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. He had an on base percentage of .435 and hit .350, while driving in 9 runs. While compiling an on base percentage of .326, Franklin hit .269 and slugged .500. He has collected 49 runs batted in this year. The Zotti League's best player of the week was Walla Walla's Ricky Borders, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. Ricky pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .500 with 3 HR and 7 RBI while slugging 1.050. Ricky managed to drive in at least one run in every game he played this week.
 
Saturday 9/21/2006: Franklin Jackson pounds three dingers
SASKATOON - Franklin Jackson powered Seattle to a 12-3 win over Saskatoon. He did it in style by homering three times. His 1st blast, a two-run homerun off Demarcus Ramirez in the 1st inning, landed an estimated 379 feet from home plate. A 396 foot drive to right-center marked his 2nd bomb, a three-run homerun off Teodoro Amaral in the 7th inning. Number 3 in the 9th inning, a shot estimated at 412 feet, cleared the wall in right-center. Overall he stroked 3 hits in 5 AB, with three runs scored and driving in 6 runs. His homerun total this year is 15, along with 49 RBI.
 
Monday 9/16/2006: Saskatoon's Pimental wins Player of the Week award
Saskatoon's pitcher Richard Pimental had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the Adams League Player of the Week. Richard went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.00, while fanning 22 in 18 innings of work. He pitched two shutouts! John Redman from New York John was on fire, hitting .406 with 4 HR and 11 RBI. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 8 games.
 
Tuesday 9/10/2006: New York 's John Redman slams five hits
NEW YORK On Tuesday, New York 's leftfielder John Redman displayed his sensational ability to handle the bat against Austin, punishing their pitchers with five hits. His 3rd hit, a solo homerun off John Daigre in the 4th inning, landed an estimated 392 feet from home plate. Number 5 in the 8th inning, a shot estimated at 381 feet, cleared the wall in right-center. He collected singles in the 1st inning , in the 3rd inning (one RBI) and in the 7th inning . John scored 3 runs, and he collected 5 RBI as well! His 5 hit performance increases his batting average to .289. New York
 
Monday 9/9/2006: Brooklyn's Cuesta wins Player of the Week award
The Adams League's best player of the week was Brooklyn's Miguel Cuesta, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. He hit .481 with 10 RBI and slugged .926 in 27 at bats. Cuesta has hit for a .337 average this season. He has 39 extra base hits along with 199 total bases, resulting in a .584 slugging percentage. Alvin Damato from Florida wins his 3rd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Zotti League. Damato helped his team with an average of .417 and 7 RBI in 24 at bats. Alvin has gone 121 for 436 (.278) this season, hitting 18 longballs and driving in 75 runs. He has scored 70 runs on his own. He's 8th in the Zotti League in RBIs and 6th in homeruns!
 
Sunday 9/8/2006: Casey Plunk dominates River Cities, gives up just one hit
RIVER CITIES - Good things can happen when you throw strikes. And Casey Plunk did so today, in a 1-hit shutout against River Cities. 'I hit the corners with all of my pitches. That helped a lot!' Plunk (13-10) fanned 6 and walked 2, throwing 102 pitches. Florida's third baseman Jose Rodriguez stroked 3 hits in 5 AB, scoring three times. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Plunk. Florida improved its record to 84-55, scoring 8 runs on 13 hits.
 
Monday 9/2/2006: New York 's White out for 6 weeks
NEW YORK When it rains, it pours. New York 's ace Steven White will not pitch for at least 6 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Walla Walla where he left the field in the 4th inning. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Strained Elbow Ligament which will require surgery. In 31 starts this year Steven struck out 214 batters in 195 innings of work. His ERA is 3.97, his record 15-11. He's 1st in the Zotti League in wins!
 
Monday 9/2/2006: Houston's Diaz out for 5-6 weeks
HOUSTON - Houston's ace Luis Diaz suffered a severe injury on Monday and will be out for at least 5-6 weeks. In the 2nd of the game against Seattle he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After being taken to a local hospital, Diaz was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Ruptured Tricep Tendon. Opposing players hit .221 against Luis this season. While posting an ERA of 2.59 he went 10-13 in 30 starts, fanning 122 and walking 45 hitters. He has 5 complete games and 2 shutouts.
 
Monday 9/2/2006: Florida's Damato wins Player of the Week award
The Player of the Week award in the Adams League goes to Denver's Carlos Ramirez this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. In 16 at bats he hit .625 with 3 HR and 6 RBI. He has hit 9 bombs while batting .271 this season. His 125 hits and 30 walks add up to a .317 on-base percentage. The Zotti League's best player of the week was Florida's Alvin Damato, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. He had an on base percentage of .550 and hit .526, while driving in 4 runs. Scott Mayhew couldn't have pitched much better than he did in August, and the Adams League thought so as well, naming the right-hander Pitcher of the Month. He had an ERA of just 1.50 in 48 innings of work in which he struck out 52 hitters. His record in August is 4-0. Opposing players hit .200 against Scott this season. While posting an ERA of 2.59 he went 16-7 in 31 starts, fanning 197 and walking 53 hitters. He's 4th in the Adams League in ERA and 1st in wins! Wendell Sorg pitched like a legend in August, and the Zotti League named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. He struck out 34 hitters in his 5 starts, putting together a record of 4-0 while pitching 34 innings. His ERA in August was 1.36. Wendell also fired a shutout. Opposing players hit .223 against Wendell this season. While posting an ERA of 2.46 he went 14-4 in 26 starts, fanning 178 and walking 26 hitters. Wendell has pitched one shutout and one complete game. He's 2nd in the Zotti League in ERA and 3rd in wins!

The Adams League's best player of the month was Brooklyn's Juan Melton, who wins the award for the 5th time in his career. He hit .303 with 26 RBI and slugged .569 in 109 at bats. Melton has hit for a .348 average this season. He has 54 extra base hits along with 276 total bases, resulting in a .564 slugging percentage. He's 1st in the Adams League in batting, 3rd in homeruns and 1st in RBI! The Batter of the Month award in the Zotti League goes to River Cities' Jonathan Willett this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Jonathan went 41 for 101 (.406), while hitting 8 HR and collecting 17 RBI. While compiling an on base percentage of .322, Jonathan hit .264 and slugged .460. He has collected 72 runs batted in this year. He's 7th in the Zotti League in RBIs and 4th in homeruns!
 
Friday 8/30/2006: Alvin Damato punishes Walla Walla with five hits
FLORIDA - 'You know, in batting practice I didn't really feel that comfortable about my stroke today, but baseball is more than hitting. Then, when you're not trying to force a hit, you slug them in droves,' says Alvin Damato after his 5 hit game, which Florida won 9-5 against Walla Walla. A pitch from Andrew Cardoso in the 4th inning left his bat for a two-run homerun, landing 369 feet from home plate in left field. A RBI triple off John Chambers in the 5th inning, accounted for his 4th hit. He had singles in the 1st inning , in the 2nd and in the 7th inning . Alvin scored 2 runs, and he collected 3 RBI as well! He now has a total of 109 hits this season, accounting for a .267 batting average.
 
Monday 8/26/2006: Player of the Week honors go to Willer and Rodriguez
John Willer from Seattle wins his 4th Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Adams League. John went 12 for 24 (.500), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 5 RBI. While compiling an on base percentage of .345, John hit .261 and slugged .446. He has collected 57 runs batted in this year. Jose Rodriguez wins his 3rd Player of the Week award. Zotti League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. He hit .370 with 9 RBI and slugged .963 in 27 at bats.
 
Sunday 8/25/2006: Bill Siple fires 2-hitter against Walla Walla
CALIFORNIA - Walla Walla's hitters looked uncomfortable, and California's Bill Siple didn't help them. The left-hander fired his 2nd shutout of the season, a 2-hitter. 'Hey, that's my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best I can. And my best stuff was too much for them today.' Siple (12-11) struck out 6 and walked 1, throwing 62 of 89 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for California was second baseman Wilfredo Sanchez, he got 3 hits in 4 AB, doubling once. California improved its record to 55-72, scoring 2 runs on 5 hits.
 
Monday 8/19/2006: Sherman Wheeler pitches 1-hit shutout against California
FLORIDA - It was a great day for Florida's right-hander Sherman Wheeler. The 28-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 1-hitter, against California on Monday. Wheeler (8-12) struck out 6 and issued 3 BB, throwing 62 of 95 pitches for strikes. 'I'll have to give a lot of credit to my catcher. He put all the right fingers down today.' Sean Arant provided Florida with the offense Wheeler needed as he went 3 for 5, stroking two 2B's, with 3 RBI. Florida improved its record to 72-49, scoring 5 runs on 10 hits.
 
Monday 8/19/2006: Seattle's Welch wins Player of the Week award
It's the 6th time that the Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Seattle's rightfielder Patrick Welch. In 22 at bats he hit .545 with 2 HR and 6 RBI. It's the 2nd time that the Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Seattle's pitcher Bill Clark. Bill went 1-1 with an ERA of 0.56, while fanning 14 in 16 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well. Bill has a record of 9-11 this season, with an ERA of 2.59. In 191.1 Innings he was able to strike out 154 batters. He has 4 complete games and one shutout.
 
Monday 8/12/2006: Mudge (SEA) and Willett (RIV) win P.O.W. award
It's the 8th time that the Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Seattle's first baseman Gregory Mudge. In 27 at bats he hit .481 with 4 HR and 11 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 9 game hitting streak right now. Gregory is hitting .341 this year, with 155 hits in 455 at bats. He has driven in 88 runs, slugging .545. He's 2nd in the Adams League in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 1st in RBI! It's the 2nd time that the Zotti League Player of the Week award goes to River Cities' leftfielder Jonathan Willett. He had an on base percentage of .556 and hit .520, while driving in 5 runs. Willett has walked 33 times this year and posts a .309 OBP. While batting .244, 97 for 397, he has driven in 61 runs. Demarcus Ramirez of Saskatoon wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for dominating Adams League's hitters the entire week. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 0.00 while going 2-0. He hurled a shutout as well. In 25 starts this year Demarcus struck out 204 batters in 171 innings of work. His ERA is 2.95, his record 10-9. Demarcus has pitched 2 shutouts and 3 complete games. He's 7th in the Adams League in ERA and 7th in wins! The Zotti League Player of the Week award goes to Jonathan Willett, River Cities' starting leftfielder. He had an on base percentage of .438 and hit .357, while driving in 10 runs.

Gene Icenhour pitched like a legend in July, and the Adams League named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. He struck out 19 hitters in his 6 starts, putting together a record of 4-0 while pitching 19 innings. His ERA in July was 2.84. Opposing players hit .254 against Gene this season. While posting an ERA of 4.21 he went 8-7 in 23 starts, fanning 72 and walking 47 hitters. He's 10th in the Adams League in wins! Peter Bird pitched like a legend in July, and the Zotti League named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. His ERA of just 2.02 helped him to a 4-0 record in July. He worked 40 innings, striking out 40 hitters while walking 6. Peter has a record of 6-10 this season, with an ERA of 3.41. In 153 Innings he was able to strike out 125 batters. He has one complete game and one shutout.

The Adams League Batter of the Month award goes to Gregory Mudge, Seattle's starting first baseman. Mudge helped his team with an average of .388 and 18 RBI in 103 at bats. He has hit 19 homeruns while batting .330 this season. His 136 hits and 33 walks add up to a .377 on-base percentage. He's 3rd in the Adams League in batting, 3rd in homeruns and 2nd in RBI! The Batter of the Month award in the Zotti League goes to New York 's Emmanuel Fernandez this time, as the shortstop displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. He had an on base percentage of .500 and hit .407, while driving in 27 runs. This year Fernandez drove in 67 and scored 63 runs while batting .326 with 11 taters. He's 3rd in the Zotti League in batting and 4th in RBI!
 
Monday 7/29/2006: Barraza (DEN) and Moss (WAL) win P.O.W. award
The Adams League's best player of the week was Denver's Jose Barraza, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. Jose went 11 for 26 (.423), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 10 RBI. His season numbers are: .274 AVG, 45 hits, 15 doubles, one triple and 5 taters, along with 24 RBI and 18 runs scored. The Player of the Week award in the Zotti League goes to Walla Walla's Christopher Moss this time, as the leftfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Christopher pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .407 with 4 HR and 10 RBI while slugging .963. His season numbers are: .324 AVG, 36 hits, 6 doubles, one triple and 6 taters, along with 19 RBI and 22 runs scored.
 
Saturday 7/27/2006: Albert Garcia out for 4 weeks
SEATTLE - Seattle is without its right-hander Albert Garcia for at least 4 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Richard Hassel in a game against Brooklyn. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being taken to a local hospital, Garcia was examined by specialists. The diagnosis revealed the sad truth, a Bone Chips Elbow. Opposing players hit .203 against Albert this season. While posting an ERA of 2.44 he went 8-6 in 26 starts, fanning 133 and walking 35 hitters. He's 4th in the Adams League in ERA and 8th in wins!
 
Monday 7/22/2006: Austin's Nunn wins Player of the Week award
Gregory Mudge wins his 7th Player of the Week award. Adams League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. He had an on base percentage of .600 and hit .609, while driving in 7 runs. Austin's first baseman Frank Nunn had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Zotti League Player of the Week. Nunn helped his team with an average of .444 and 6 RBI in 18 at bats.
 
Thursday 7/18/2006: Deandre Desrosiers pitches his 1st shutout of the season
DENVER - Good things can happen when you throw strikes. And Deandre Desrosiers did so today, in a 2-hit shutout against Denver. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Fortunately they were not able to adjust in time.' Desrosiers (6-9) fanned 9 and walked 1, throwing 97 pitches. Houston's leftfielder Shaun Guinn collected 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate, homering once, stroking a double, scoring two runs and collecting 4 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Desrosiers. Houston improved its record to 41-51, scoring 15 runs on 15 hits.
 
Monday 7/15/2006: Player of the Week honors go to Sullivan and Melton
The Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Waylon Sullivan, Denver's starting third baseman. Waylon went 13 for 22 (.591), while hitting 0 HR and collecting 6 RBI. Sullivan has hit 3 taters this year while batting .310. He adds 16 doubles, along with 29 runs scored. He's 5th in the Adams League in batting! River Cities' second baseman Juan Melton had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Zotti League Player of the Week. He had an on base percentage of .655 and hit .615, while driving in 7 runs. This year Melton drove in 61 and scored 56 runs while batting .368 with 16 taters. He's 2nd in the Zotti League in batting, 4th in homeruns and 2nd in RBI!
 
Monday 7/8/2006: Mika wins Player of the Week award
The Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Joshua Mika, one of Mika was overpowering all week long, going 1-0 with an ERA of 1.98. Along the way he struck out 11 in 13.2 innings. His ERA of 3.14 helped him to a 5-6 record this year. He struck out 92 and walked 23 in 117.2 innings. The Player of the Week award in the Adams League goes to Peter went 1-0 with an ERA of 2.77, while fanning 14 in 13 innings of work.

He has 16 extra base hits along with 95 total bases, resulting in a .408 slugging percentage. He's 10th in the Zotti League in batting!

It's the 2nd time that the Adams League Pitcher of the Month award goes to Saskatoon's pitcher Richard Pimental. He went 4-0 in June and finished the month with an ERA of 0.92. He struck out 44 in 39.1 innings. In 18 starts this year Richard struck out 126 batters in 118.1 innings of work. His ERA is 1.75, his record 9-4. He's 1st in the Adams League in ERA and 5th in wins! Jonathan Starner pitched like a legend in June, and the Zotti League named him Pitcher of the Month for his extraordinary performance. He started 6 games in June, going 4-0 and compiling an ERA of 1.73 in 41.2 innings. Jonathan fanned 50 hitters. This season Starner compiled an ERA of 3.88, going 7-3 in 18 starts. He fanned 118 while giving up 115 hits in 106.2 innings. He's 6th in the Zotti League in wins!
 
Monday 7/1/2006: Batter of the Month award winners announced
The Adams League's best player of the month was Seattle's John Willer, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. John was on fire, hitting .300 with 8 homeruns and 24 RBI. He has hit 10 bombs while batting .256 this season. His 61 hits and 29 walks add up to a .342 on-base percentage. Frank Nunn of Austin wins his 7th Batter of the Month award for putting up the best numbers in the Zotti League. He had an on base percentage of .461 and hit .404, while driving in 20 runs. His season features a batting average of .354 (95 hits in 268 AB), 13 doubles, 5 triples and 18 longballs. Nunn collected 47 RBI and 59 runs as well. He's 2nd in the Zotti League in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 5th in RBI!
 
Monday 6/24/2006: Player of the Week honors go to Sadao and Marquez
The Adams League's best player of the week was Seattle's John Sadao, who wins the award for the 4th time in his career. John pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .444 with 1 HR and 7 RBI while slugging .833. John is hitting .225 this year, with 61 hits in 271 at bats. He has driven in 37 runs, slugging .391. It's the 2nd time that the Zotti League Player of the Week award goes to Florida's pitcher Jesus Marquez. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 3.78 while going 2-0. He hurled a shutout as well. Jesus has a record of 7-3 this season, with an ERA of 3.74. In 79.1 Innings he was able to strike out 61 batters. He has 2 complete games and 2 shutouts. He's 4th in the Zotti League in wins!
 
Monday 6/17/2006: Austin's Nunn wins Player of the Week award
Pierre Moya wins his 1st Player of the Week award. Adams League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Pierre pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .375 with 3 HR and 6 RBI while slugging .833. The Zotti League's best player of the week was Austin's Frank Nunn, who wins the award for the 12th time in his career. Frank was on fire, hitting .647 with 3 HR and 6 RBI.
 
Monday 6/10/2006: Willer (SEA) and David (NY) win P.O.W. award
The Player of the Week award in the Adams League goes to Seattle's John Willer this time, as the third baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. In 18 at bats he hit .444 with 3 HR and 8 RBI. His season numbers are: .247 AVG, 43 hits, 11 doubles, no triples and 5 bombs, along with 24 RBI and 15 runs scored. It's the 1st time that the Zotti League Player of the Week award goes to New York 's centerfielder Juan David. He had an on base percentage of .464 and hit .348, while driving in 8 runs. This year David drove in 27 and scored 45 runs while batting .262 with 8 longballs.
 
Monday 6/3/2006: Casarez wins Player of the Week award
The Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Roberto Casarez, Roberto was on fire, hitting .484 with 2 HR and 10 RBI. Roberto is hitting .355 this year, with 76 hits in 214 at bats. He has driven in 39 runs, slugging .617. He's 1st in the Adams League in batting, 3rd in homeruns and 3rd in RBI! Logan Sletten wins his 1st Player of the Week award. Zotti League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Logan pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .360 with 2 HR and 8 RBI while slugging .760.
 
Saturday 6/1/2006: Austin's Olivas named Pitcher of the Month
Houston's pitcher Luis Diaz is the Adams League winner of the Pitcher of the Month award in May. His ERA of just 1.55 helped him to a 4-2 record in May. He worked 46.1 innings, striking out 27 hitters while walking 17. Luis got two complete game shutouts as well! This season Diaz compiled an ERA of 1.48, going 6-5 in 12 starts. He fanned 56 while giving up 59 hits in 91.1 innings. Luis has pitched 2 shutouts and 2 complete games. He's 1st in the Adams League in ERA and 3rd in wins! It's the 2nd time that the Zotti League Pitcher of the Month award goes to Austin's pitcher Roberto Olivas. His ERA of just 3.35 helped him to a 5-1 record in May. He worked 40.1 innings, striking out 26 hitters while walking 11. In 12 starts this year Roberto struck out 47 batters in 67 innings of work. His ERA is 3.49, his record 7-1. He's 10th in the Zotti League in ERA and 1st in wins!
 
Saturday 6/1/2006: Powell (SAS) and Welch (WAL) win monthly award
It's the 2nd time that the Adams League Batter of the Month award goes to Saskatoon's first baseman Russell Powell. In 90 at bats he hit .300 with 11 HR and 24 RBI. Powell has hit 16 taters this year while batting .289. He adds 6 doubles, along with 33 runs scored. He's 2nd in the Adams League in RBIs and 1st in homeruns! The Zotti League's best player of the month was Walla Walla's Patrick Welch, who wins the award for the 2nd time in his career. He hit .382 with 19 RBI and slugged .608 in 102 at bats. His season features a batting average of .335 (69 hits in 206 AB), 13 doubles, no triples and 7 homeruns. Welch collected 30 RBI and 43 runs as well. He's 4th in the Zotti League in batting!
 
Thursday 5/30/2006: Joel Calles (CAL) will miss 4-5 weeks
CALIFORNIA - When it rains, it pours. California's right-hander Joel Calles will not pitch for at least 4-5 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against River Cities where he left the field in the 7th inning. Pulled Tricep Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. In 0 starts this year Joel struck out 36 batters in 38.1 innings of work. His ERA is 3.99, his record 1-2.
 
Monday 5/27/2006: Powell (SAS) and Mendoza (WAL) win P.O.W. award
Russell Powell wins his 4th Player of the Week award. Adams League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. He had an on base percentage of .409 and hit .350, while driving in 6 runs. Walla Walla's first baseman Juan Mendoza had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Zotti League Player of the Week. Juan was on fire, hitting .526 with 1 HR and 4 RBI. This year Mendoza drove in 33 and scored 33 runs while batting .329 with 7 longballs. He's 6th in the Zotti League in batting, 6th in homeruns and 4th in RBI!
 
Monday 5/20/2006: Casarez and Rodriguez win Player of the Week award
Roberto Casarez wins his 4th Player of the Week award. Adams League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Casarez helped his team with an average of .417 and 11 RBI in 24 at bats. Casarez has hit for a .339 average this season. He has 18 extra base hits along with 98 total bases, resulting in a .594 slugging percentage. He's 1st in the Adams League in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 4th in RBI! The Zotti League Player of the Week award goes to Jose Rodriguez, Florida's starting third baseman. He had an on base percentage of .556 and hit .520, while driving in 7 runs. He has hit 11 homeruns while batting .309 this season. His 43 hits and 15 walks add up to a .374 on-base percentage. He's 8th in the Zotti League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 2nd in RBI!
 
Monday 5/13/2006: Walla Walla's Welch wins Player of the Week award
The Adams League Player of the Week award goes to Shaun Guinn, Houston's starting leftfielder. Guinn helped his team with an average of .476 and 4 RBI in 21 at bats. This year Guinn drove in 16 and scored 17 runs while batting .362 with 6 homeruns. He's 1st in the Adams League in batting! Patrick Welch wins his 5th Player of the Week award. Zotti League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. In 20 at bats he hit .700 with 1 HR and 2 RBI.
 
Monday 5/6/2006: Jesus Marquez shuts out California on one hit
CALIFORNIA - Jesus Marquez had an unexpectedly great performance against California on Monday, pitching a 1-hitter for his 1st shutout of the season. Waylon Blassingame spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he singled with one out in the 5th inning. 'Wow, what a nice day. I guess I had a good breakfast today.' Marquez (3-2) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking none, throwing 101 pitches. Alvin Damato provided Florida with the offense Marquez needed as he finished 4 for 5, blasting a homerun, doubling twice, scoring three runs with 4 RBI. Florida scored 8 runs on 14 hits.
 
Monday 5/6/2006: Player of the Week honors go to Mika and Smith
Joshua Mika of Denver wins his 1st Player of the Week award for dominating Adams League's hitters the entire week. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 0.64 while going 2-0. Opposing players hit .258 against Joshua this season. While posting an ERA of 4.46 he went 2-3 in 8 starts, fanning 34 and walking 13 hitters. The Player of the Week award in the Zotti League goes to Austin's Kevin Smith this time, as the catcher displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Kevin went 10 for 25 (.400), while hitting 2 HR and collecting 9 RBI. Smith has walked 10 times this year and posts a .325 OBP. While batting .265, 30 for 113, he has driven in 15 runs.
 
Wednesday 5/1/2006: Walla Walla's Mendoza named Pitcher of the Month
It's the 3rd time that the Adams League Pitcher of the Month award goes to Seattle's pitcher Hobert Hagerty. He had an ERA of just 1.82 in 49.1 innings of work in which he struck out 51 hitters. His record in April is 5-1. The best month of April in the Zotti League certainly had Walla Walla's left-hander Max Mendoza, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. He had an ERA of just 2.54 in 28.1 innings of work in which he struck out 18 hitters. His record in April is 4-0.
 
Wednesday 5/1/2006: Hickory's Fout earns Batter of the Month award
The Adams League Batter of the Month award goes to Robert Fout, Hickory's starting third baseman. Robert pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .333 with 11 and 30 RBI while slugging .686. It's the 4th time that the Zotti League Batter of the Month award goes to River Cities' second baseman Juan Melton. He had an on base percentage of .442 and hit .389, while driving in 23 runs.
 
Monday 4/29/2006: Alexander Fulp on fire, hits for cycle
DENVER - Alexander Fulp is a pretty good hitter, but his 4 hit performance seemed to surprise even himself considering that the hits added up to the cycle, one of the most difficult things to accomplish in baseball. A single in the 4th off Kenneth Caviness accounted for his 1st hit. A RBI triple off Jeffrey Shuttleworth in the 5th inning, accounted for his 2nd hit. That one tied it at 5 runs apiece. His 3rd hit was a double off Inohiko Hisahsi in the 8th inning. His 4th hit, off David Hahn in the 9th inning, was a solo homerun and cleared the fence in right field. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Alexander did drive in 3 while scoring 2 runs on his own. His 4 hit performance increases his batting average to .292. 5 players in league history have so far hit for the cycle, including Alexander. On 7/28/2004, Carlos Ramirez was the last player to hit for the cycle.
 
Monday 4/29/2006: Casarez and Melton win Player of the Week award
The Player of the Week award in the Adams League goes to Roberto went 12 for 23 (.522), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 5 RBI. This year Casarez drove in 11 and scored 23 runs while batting .367 with 6 taters. He's 3rd in the Adams League in batting! It's the 9th time that the Zotti League Player of the Week award goes to River Cities' second baseman Juan Melton. He had an on base percentage of .571 and hit .538, while driving in 7 runs. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 22 games. He has hit 6 bombs while batting .374 this season. His 37 hits and 10 walks add up to a .432 on-base percentage. He's 3rd in the Zotti League in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 2nd in RBI!
 
Thursday 4/25/2006: Hickory's Robert Fout unloads three times
HICKORY - Hitting homeruns is one of the most difficult things in sports. To hit three of them in one game is almost sensational. Hickory's third baseman Robert Fout accomplished that feat in a 7-2 win over Denver. A pitch from Joshua Mika in the 2nd inning left his bat for a solo homerun, landing 385 feet from home plate in left field. In the 4th inning he unloaded a solo homerun off Joshua Mika. Number 3 in the 8th inning, a shot estimated at 423 feet, cleared the wall in center field. Robert went 3 for 4, scoring three times and collecting 3 RBI. Hickory improved its record to 16-7, scoring 7 runs on 13 hits.
 
Monday 4/22/2006: Player of the Week honors go to Collazo and Nunn
Rafael Collazo from Brooklyn wins his 6th Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Adams League. Rafael was on fire, hitting .455 with 3 HR and 7 RBI. His season features a batting average of .304 (21 hits in 69 AB), 3 doubles, one triple and 8 bombs. Collazo collected 22 RBI and 16 runs as well. He's 1st in the Adams League in RBIs and 1st in homeruns! Austin's first baseman Frank Nunn had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the Zotti League Player of the Week. Frank pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .455 with 3 HR and 8 RBI while slugging 1.045. Nunn has walked 12 times this year and posts a .471 OBP. While batting .384, 28 for 73, he has driven in 17 runs. He's 2nd in the Zotti League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 2nd in RBI!
 
Monday 4/15/2006: Mudge (SEA) and Drewry (CAL) win P.O.W. award
Gregory Mudge from Seattle wins his 6th Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the Adams League. Mudge helped his team with an average of .500 and 6 RBI in 26 at bats. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 7 game hitting streak right now. While compiling an on base percentage of .467, Gregory hit .448 and slugged .655. He has collected 11 runs batted in this year. He's 1st in the Adams League in batting, 4th in homeruns and 4th in RBI! The Zotti League Player of the Week award goes to Jeffery Drewry, California's starting third baseman. Jeffery went 10 for 24 (.417), while hitting 2 HR and collecting 3 RBI. Drewry has hit 3 homeruns this year while batting .375. He adds 3 doubles, along with 9 runs scored. He's 3rd in the Zotti League in batting!
